The Society’s outing 2023 was to Chipping Campden and Stanway House. Angela stayed at Stanway for a few weeks in 1917, after the end of her marriage to James Campbell McInnes. Cynthia Asquith described Angela at the time as “the pathetic refugee”.
Stanway House has many other associations with Angela’s family, including her godfather, J M Barrie, who played cricket there – as did Angela’s novelist brother, Denis Mackail.
The entire trip was meticulously researched and planned by Rita Rundle, all the rest of us had to do was follow her instructions. A full report will appear in the next available Journal.
